Biography

Sonja Schmer-Galunder is a senior research scientist at Smart Information Flow Technologies and has developed and tested games under government research grants for NASA, DARPA and the DoD. She is a co-investigator of the HI-SEAS space analog study (www.hi-seas.org), testing the psychological impact of long-duration space flight using a VR-based strategic game to study team dynamics of a crew of 6 individuals in isolation over 8 months. She is also the principal investigator of a project testing how tailored game-play integrating sensor data from current smart phones can impact individual awareness and behavioral change. She works as social scientist for a AI tech company called Smart Information Flow Technologies, at the intersection between high-risk tech innovation and psychological well-being.
