Rebecca has worked in education for nearly two decades. She is currently the Co-Executive Director of Institute of Play, an educational non-profit that supports design-thinking, collaboration, problem-solving through a unique learning model rooted in the principles of games and game design. A driving force in the STEM to STEAM movement, the Institute’s research and programs have been widely featured as an innovative and accessible approach to transforming education through play. Rebecca is responsible for guiding the Institute’s strategic growth and provides leadership on all of the Institute’s major initiatives in relation to teacher education, professional development, and research.
Prior to working at the Institute, Rebecca taught English Education at the University level and she worked in New York City public schools for 10 years as a middle school and high school English teacher, Social Studies teacher, and literacy coach.
She holds a BA in English from Tufts University, a Master’s degree in English Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and PhD in Urban Education from the Graduate Center at the City University of New York.
