With 40 years in the gaming industry and 15 in academia, Paul Pivec brings a wealth of experience to each project he is involved in. Originally a systems programmer, Paul has owned and managed two multi-million dollar development companies with a customer base that included the New Zealand and Australian Governments, and multinational companies NCR and Hitachi.
With his experience in product development and international management, Paul has successfully mentored start-up game companies such as Metia Interactive. From their initial conception of a commercial game idea, Paul coached them to the achievement of a national innovation award, and to bring their product to the world market through the Sony Interactive distribution channel.
Having completed his Masters Degree in Computing and Game-Based Learning, and a Graduate Diploma in Higher Education, Paul went on to achieve excellence with his Doctorate in Educational Technology specializing in Game Design. Now based in Europe, Paul combines his knowledge in pedagogy with his development skills, working with fortune 500 companies such as Johnson Controls, to create and deploy 3D online training games. His latest product to teach Industry Compliance and Ethics won GOLD in the prestigious Brandon Hall awards this year (2017) for best use of Games in Learning.
